Welcome to the fifth issue of Making Spend Matter Newsletter bringing you the latest updates from our Network on progressive public procurement, spend analysis and anchor institution cooperation.
The way we live, work, travel and engage with each other has been profoundly changed and impacted over the past few months. From a Making Spend Matter perspective, this also involved rethinking our Network activities both at local and transnational levels. We took this challenge as an opportunity to develop new ways of collaborating across 7 different countries and enable our partners to further exchange, learn and build capacity together through this crisis.
The ability to sustain #MakingSpendMatter activities was key for us as we believe public procurement plays a fundamental role in how we mobilise a response to a pandemic, how we build resilience and enable a recovery with the ambition to shape a more inclusive and sustainable society. By continuing to learn from each other’s experience and by strengthening the cooperation and support between cities and people, we want to make sure behaviours and practices can be progressed and that the strategic role of public procurement can be harnessed to its fullest.
In this edition of the Newsletter, we highlight how our partners have been sharing practices to encourage socially responsible behaviours, improving processes to support SMEs and using public procurement to build resilience in their cities.
