The Municipality of the 12th District (Hegyvidék) is the local government body responsible for the administration of Budapest’s greenest district, a hilly, partly suburban area in the western part of the Hungarian capital. As the greenest district, Hegyvidék has a huge responsibility to keep an eye on its greenery, to inform and communicate with the residents and to raise their awareness regarding environmental issues, which is why a Green Office, that is responsible for this complex role, had been established in 2016.
If you like new and exciting ways to learn a city’s transfer story, then Hegyvidek’s is the one for you. In the board game Mission for pollinators Hegyvidek presents what needs to be done during the transfer process as a board game with partners as players in the game. This board game is a social game, where the emphasis is on cooperation and the players only fight against activities that make life difficult for pollinators. The whole transfer story is presented from the perspective of different players playing versions or extensions of the same game. In the survey from the spring of 2020 they found that most residents know a lot about bee products, but that the honey consumption is low.
