Summary

As a climate change and sustainability consultant, Panos supports services for the design and implementation of EU projects in the field of Climate Change Mitigation / Adaptation (CCM/CCA), Sustainable Energy, CCM potential of Circular Economy and Sustainable Finance. He also provides advisory services to municipalities to address climate change-related threats by identifying resilient and net-zero innovative strategies / technologies combined with funding instruments to finance the selected actions. 

He previously contributed for more than 8 years to the technical / knowledge management coordination as well as communications activities of the EU LIFE programme, in particular the EU LIFE Climate Action and LIFE Clean Energy Transition sub-programme. His responsibilities included the technical supervision of communications deliverables (e.g. LIFE project summaries, LIFE technical reports, LIFE newsletters and so on), production of the annual EU LIFE thematic publications on EU Climate Action policy priority areas and capacity building / dissemination activities on successful pilot and demonstration EU LIFE projects in the field of CCM, CCA, CCM potential of Circular Economy and Clean Energy Transition.

The latter role entailed the organisation of numerous LIFE thematic platform meetings along with the active participation in more than 150 European conferences on behalf of CINEA so as to promote the most innovative and applicable LIFE technologies / methodologies developed at EU level, interact with the audience, moderate sessions and occassionally be the rapporteur of thematic sessions and workshops. As a post-events activity, Panos was assigned with the preparation of the mission and technical reports for the CINEA / DG Clima project officers and policy officers, an exercise that enabled him to significantly develop his synthesis skills and link projects’ applications and results with market-based & policy recommendations. 

Panos has a strong background in Economics, Environmental Economics and advanced Statistics (Quantitative analysis in Social Science), holds a Master’s degree in ‘Economics for Natural Resource and Environmental management’ and an executive Certificate in Sustainable Financial Strategies from University of Oxford / Said Business School.
