Edited on 10/04/2025

As part of the URBACT BiodiverCity project, Limerick City and County Council proudly presents the Limerick Forest Festival — a joyful celebration of Ireland’s National Tree Week taking place on Sunday, 9th March in the beautiful surroundings of Baggot Estate.

National Tree Week, Ireland’s largest annual celebration of trees and forests, is supported by Coillte and the Tree Council of Ireland. This year’s event in Limerick invites people of all ages to reconnect with nature, explore local biodiversity, and enjoy the many benefits of green spaces.

The Limerick Forest Festival promises a packed schedule of free, family-friendly activities designed to inspire, educate and entertain. From guided nature walks and expert talks, to forest bathing, yoga beneath the trees, woodland crafts, and face painting — the event is set to delight nature lovers, families, and curious minds alike.

Festival highlights include:

  • 🌿 Tree identification sessions and urban forest tours

  • 🧘‍♀️ Mindful movement and yoga under the canopy

  • 🦇 Discovering urban bat species and exploring a new type of natural trim trail

  • 🎨 Wreath and floral arrangement workshops

  • 🌲 Free tree whips (while supplies last)

Children can take part in a nature scavenger hunt, while adults enjoy creative crafts or learn new facts about Limerick’s growing green spaces.

The Limerick Forest Festival forms part of the city’s commitment under BiodiverCity, an URBACT project aimed at enhancing urban biodiversity, building greener communities, and strengthening local engagement with nature-based solutions.
